Lines

Purpose:   Design a navigation page for this DVD project.

Method:     Combine:
-child's hand printing,
-stickers and drawings,
-ruled grade one school writing paper,
-a properly typed alphabet
-some printed words.

Results: See example#1 .

Conclusion:     Above a page of zeros and ones, drawn between the ruled lines of first grade paper, hovers a slightly jumbled alphabet.  A measure of constructive order is combined with a child-like sensibility.  A balance is struck.  This is a good start for a first draft.  The page feels of free and secure: freedom to make mistakes in the mystery of learning to read and write and security in knowing that everything ahead will be just an exercise not an exam. The page, also seems nostalgic, hinting at earlier methods of teaching ("Fun with Dick and Jane").
As we have yet to define our audience, this page  attempts to appeal both child and adult much the same way as some good picture books work at both levels, and as exemplified in the website of flash games at ferryhalim.com.

The animation "lines" is another story.
